Regarding Student Employment

How does on-campus employment work?

The Career Center lists a wide variety of on- and off-campus jobs. Students may check for current listings for both on and off-campus online at the Eagle Network. Students will need to set up a profile in the system and upload a resume.

I'm not a student at UNT. How can I get more information about the job postings?

Unfortunately, our system is available to accommodate only UNT students. Once you have received an acceptance letter from the University, you may begin applying for jobs through our service. If you are not planning on attending UNT, you may check the job listings in the Employment department of Human Resources.

I'm an International/IELI/Exchange student. How can I get more information about off-campus jobs?

Once an international student is approved to work off campus, they can go to the online job listings to view available positions and apply. International students will need to go to the International Advising, Kendall Hall 171 to request permission to work off-campus. International Advising maybe contacted at 940/565-2195.

If I am not registered for classes can I still use the Career Center?

As long as you have proof of acceptance to the university or have been enrolled within the past year, you are welcome to use our services. If you are taking a semester off (i.e. summer) you are still eligible to apply.

How many hours can I work per week on campus?

A student employee who is Regular Hourly may work no more than 30 hours per week during regular times of enrollment. During Fall/Spring semesters, International students may work up to 20 hours per week. Non-resident alien students who work more than 20 hours per week will be in danger of violating their visa status. Between periods of regular enrollment (semester breaks or during the summer months), both US citizens and non-resident aliens may work up to 40 hours per week. The College Work Study award is usually set up to accommodate a 20-hour work week. However, the College Work Study student can arrange with the employing department to work up to 30 hours per week.

How many jobs are we allowed to look up?

Student may apply to as many on and off campus positions as they wish.

How can I get College Work Study?

College Work Study is a need-based form of financial aid. Contact the Financial Aid Office for application procedures.

If I have College Work Study, can I apply for the hourly jobs?

If you have been given a College Work Study award from the Student Financial Aid Office, you must apply for College Work Study positions.

Does College Work Study guarantee me a job?

The College Work Study program was designed to provide students with a job on-campus. If a student is diligent at applying for positions, they should be able to acquire employment on-campus.

Who can get College Work Study?

A student can apply for College Work Study with the Student Financial Aid office and if they meet the criteria and money is available they may be awarded College Work Study. Students should contact the Student Financial Aid Office for more information. Student Financial Aid: (940) 565-2302.

How do I get paid with College Work Study?

Students who have College Work Study will be paid every two weeks like other student employees. Pay will depend on the hourly wage and number of hours worked each week. Pay will be deducted from the award amount and money will be paid directly to student to utilize as needed for living expenses.
