Sarah Spath (she, her, hers) – Graduate Assistant, College of Business

Hello! My name is Sarah Spath. I graduated this semester with a Master’s in Higher Education with a focus on Student Affairs. Currently, I also work part-time as a Graduate Assistant for the College of Business for the 2020-2021 academic year. Prior to going back to school, I got my Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accounting degrees from the University of Michigan. I then worked for 5 years in corporate finance and human resources.

A fun fact about me is that I started taking dance lessons when I was 3-years old and I am now a licensed Zumba instructor.

Describe a typical workday, tasks, and what you enjoy most about your job?

On a given workday, I may be meeting one-on-one with students developing and presenting career-related content such as preparing for career fairs, researching career-related topics, reviewing resumes for class assignments, analyzing data to provide better services to students, and communicating with students and co-workers. The career-related topics that I may cover in student appointments, classes, workshops, and research include career exploration, writing resumes and cover letters, searching for internships and jobs, career fair preparation, and interviewing advice. I also actively work to continuously improve the work I am doing within the career center and trying to find ways to make content more relevant and engaging. As a previous Human Resources recruiter and someone who has changed career paths multiple times, I truly enjoy getting to know students individually and understanding their background, interests, and goals so I can better support them.

Describe the services you provide for UNT students.

As a Graduate Assistant, I provide services including career exploration, resume review, job search guidance, and interview preparation.
