Dee Wilson – Career Coach, G. Ryan College of Business

I have 33 years working in higher education with 18 of those years providing career coaching and professional development. I graduated with my Masters in Higher Education from UNT and also have a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Government with an emphasis in Paralegal Studies. I have held roles in coordinating Student Employment Services, as Assistant Director of Disability Accommodation, Assistant Director of the Career Center, and as a Senior Lecturer. My favorite food is anything Italian. I enjoy music/concerts, antique shopping, and traveling.

Describe a typical workday, tasks, and what you enjoy most about your job?

My typical workday involves meeting with students to help them with a variety of needs (resume review, internship tips/practice, career coaching, etc.). I also provide presentations, reviewing internships for credit requests, and coordinating resume review labs. I enjoy meeting with students one-on-one the most and providing guidance to help them.

Describe the services you provide for UNT students.

I provide Career Coaching on resumes and Linkedin profiles, interview preparation, deciding on a major/career path, exploring job search strategies, salary negotiations, career fair preparation, and helping with the internship for credit application process (for marketing and management majors), etc.

Why do you believe students utilize the Career Center? What are the benefits?

The benefits of using the Career Center are to provide students with an opportunity to actively participate in programs, career fairs, and other workshops to develop themselves professionally and to be prepared for their career search upon graduation. As Career Coaches, we want to partner with our students to help them succeed and are committed to providing a caring and inclusive approach.
