Briana McCarthy – Interview Coordinator
I am originally from the Chicago suburbs until I moved to Texas in 2008. I completed my B.A. in Psychology in 2019 and recently finished my M.Ed. in Higher Education, specializing in Student Affairs this May 2021, both at UNT. I’m very excited to begin this next chapter as an alum working in the Career Center. My favorite food is a Chicago style deep dish from LouMalnati’s.
Describe a typical workday, tasks, and what you enjoy most about your job?
My typical work day is based around planning the interview schedule, managing events in Handshake, and coordinating with employers and students for the various programs we create. I enjoy making connections between students and employers to see student development in action. I love being a supportive resource for student’s journeys towards their career goals.
Describe the services you provide for UNT students.
The services I provide for students include interview suite access and scheduling, creating new programming, and managing events/fairs. I’m looking forward to seeing how we incorporate virtual access into upcoming programming.
Why do you believe students utilize the Career Center? What are the benefits?
I believe students should utilize the career center because the programs we offer are valuable development opportunities that can help them connect what they learn in the classroom with practical applications. Students come to college to get a degree so they may begin their career. Here at the Career Center we help students understand the skills they have and how to develop them to aid in their career pathway. There are endless networking opportunities and resources we offer to help our students throughout their degree and as alumni.
