Patricia Chastain (she/her/hers) – Associate Director of Student Employment.

Hi, my name is Patricia Chastain. I have a B.A. in Classical Literature, MBA, and Doctorate of Education. Prior to University life, I worked in mass recruitment and HR for Home Depot, National Park Systems, and private corporations. Also, I was a manager of financial research for S&P. Fun fact about me? I want nothing more than to live in the Highlands of Scotland or Pacific Way in Ireland.

Describe a typical workday, tasks, and what you enjoy most about your job?

I wouldn’t say there is a “typical” day for student employment, but that is what makes this job so great. One day we are doing massive amounts of onboarding, the next day we are counseling a supervisor on best practices. With the launch of Student Employment 2.0, we are really hoping to bring a lot more to student employment on campus. I enjoy working directly with students and promoting the work-study programs we offer.

Describe the services you provide for UNT students.

The services I offer are primarily student employment-related. I offer on-campus job advising, I-9 processing, student and supervisor training, and management of the Eagle Internship Program.

Why do you believe students utilize the Career Center? What are the benefits?

I think students originally come to the Career Center not knowing what to expect and they might not even know what they need. They leave with a great understanding of how to turn all on-campus activities like jobs, projects, and class assignments into career-defining goals and ideas.
