Career Treks
Learn about jobs, internships, and company cultures
Career Treks is designed to assist students in their career exploration and development by matching them with hosts working in a career field of interest. Students who participate in Career Treks will be able to:
- Determine how this experience fits in with their career development plan.
- Clarify their career goals and assess if this is a career that they wish to pursue.
- Develop a better understanding of all aspects involved in a job. Students can observe not only job characteristics and responsibilities but also what each profession requires on a day-to-day basis.
Upcoming job shadowing opportunities can be found in Handshake under Events. Go to “Events”, then selected “more filters” and then search for the “Job Shadowing” label. Recordings of previous virtual job shadowing opportunities are available as Career Treks videos.
Students interested in the program can email Mousham Bhattarai to learn more about this program, or by scheduling an appointment with a Career Coach through Navigate
In-Person or Virtual Format for Career Treks
Career Treks experiences can be set up as either on-site job shadowing or in a virtual format. Virtual experiences are not limited to job shadowing. They include conducting informational interviews with our students in a group session, or an informational interview with a UNT Career Center staff member about your organization and career. Career Treks is designed so your organization will gain brand recognition and students can learn more about your organization’s mission and its contribution to your industry. You also have the opportunity to share tips, tricks, and other advice with UNT students who are interested in one day working in your industry.
Interested and want to know how to connect with us? Please start this process by emailing Mousham Bhattarai expressing your interest in participating in our Career Treks Program. Our team will work with you to offer guidance on target colleges and majors, scheduling, marketing, and will work to implement the type of Career Treks experience you feel is the best fit for your organization. We look forward to working with you!

- Candidates who no-show will be required to write an apology letter to the employer and their Handshake account will be suspended until such time. We will make exceptions as needed on a case-by-case basis.
