High School Career Connect

Welcome! High School Career Connect provides career advice, postsecondary planning, and workforce trends to middle and high school students.

Today, as you sit in a classroom, slog through homework, or study for a test, your goal is graduation. Your focus is on getting out of school and getting on with your life. But that diploma is not the destination. The ultimate objective is a career: turning your education into a paycheck and making a living doing something rewarding and satisfying.

That’s where High School Career Connect can help.

The University of North Texas and the Greater Texas Foundation established High School Career Connect to provide career advice, postsecondary planning, and workforce trends to help middle-schoolers choose endorsements and high school students explore post-secondary options.

Fostering Career Readiness

High School Career Connect (HSCC) seeks to address the gap in career preparation, for whenever middle and high schools lack the career-planning resources to help students make an informed endorsement choice or post-secondary choice.

Through working with middle and high schools around the Denton County area and beyond, HSCC provides students and their parents with career assessments, guidance, and planning resources to help make an informed choice.

HSCC conducts one-on-one mentorship, class presentations, and workshops to provide students with the career resources needed to navigate their desired career path. As a result, students receive individualized career guidance, suggestions on college majors and high school endorsements, and options for their postsecondary experience resulting in increased confidence in their career path, an enhanced skill set and increased employment potential.

Due to Texas House Bill 5, all 8th graders are required to choose an academic track called an ‘endorsement.’ Click here to explore your choice of endorsements, including more information on what they are and potential career paths you can take with each endorsement.
