Welcome to the Non-Traditional Students Community!
A large portion of UNT students fit the profile of what is known as a “non-traditional student.” What this means is students who are outside of the age range and life experiences of the 18-24 year old students who enter their college studies immediately upon or soon after graduating from high school. Perhaps you are wanting to learn new skills to become more marketable in the workplace. Or you believe education is a lifelong process. Or, you have been engaged in other activities such as serving in the military or raising children. Whatever your particular circumstance, know that UNT is here to help you succeed in your studies and provide a welcoming and supportive environment for you.
WHAT MAKES NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS SHINE
There are several great studies and articles which talk about the unique attributes non-traditional students bring to their educational experience. Drawing from real-world experience in the workplace, parenting, and other experiences creates a level of maturity and focus that add to their academic experience. Check out the following resources!
