The Front Desk Host contribute to the hotel’s commitment to high quality guest service and teamwork and must be the kind of person who appreciates high standards of excellence. The Front Desk Host creates an experience for our hotel guests by offering them a larger than home experience with welcoming, helpful and exceptional service, while maintaining a clean, comfortable and inviting environment. This position will be within the Rooms where there will be scheduled shifts as a Front Desk Host to assist with the guest experience including the arrival experience. Shifts will be assigned and scheduled based on the forecasted the business need.
Front Desk Host Responsibilities
While working as a Front Desk Host, the position will be responsible for the guest registration process and communication of hotel services and promotions. This highly visible role gives opportunity for casual conversation and has a direct impact on creating the guest experience. Other duties may include processing forms of payment and responding to guest inquires. Previous guest service experience as well as the ability to communicate well with guests required.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
Ability to stand and move throughout front office and continuously perform essential job functions.
Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
Utilize Hyatt selling skills to describe and upsell premium room products and other hotel services to our arriving guests at check-in.
Must possess intermediate computer skills with the ability to learn systems including Opera and Reserve.
Previous experience as a Front Desk Host or Hospitality background
Customer service experience is required, preferably in a hotel or related field
Must have schedule flexibility for both AM/PM shifts, weekends and holidays
Ability to learn quickly and work in fast paced position with guest interaction
Must be able to multi-task
A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
Ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight (minimum of 25 lbs)
Able to stand for long periods of time
Strong system and software use a plus!
