Selects tunes from new releases for airplay (inclusion on KNTU’s weekly Playlist), rips selected tracks into the on-air automation system, and enters appropriate data into the music scheduling database to maintain artist and / or title separations as defined by KNTU music policy. Responsible for maintenance and inventory of CD recordings in the existing KNTU library. Classifies, stores, and adds to the inventory database the hundreds of releases provided to KNTU each year. Maintains an updated list of all music reps in regular contact with KNTU and maintains weekly availability for music phone calls. Maintains sole authority and oversight of all contacts made on behalf of KNTU to all record companies. May delegate authority in certain cases, but must give prior approval for all outside contacts made by others. Monitors the volunteer DJ staff performance and critiques music selection as it relates to appropriate daypart clocks. Supervises the production of the daily jazz entertainment bulletin board, The Live Wire.
Experience with KNTU broadcast and studio operations is preferred including the use of Wide Orbit automation, Adobe Audition, Burli newsroom software and Wheatstone LX-24 audio control surface systems.
•Demonstrated competency in the operation of broadcast-quality audio control surfaces and related automation and software systems.
•Troubleshooting skills to overcome any technical issues which may occur.
•Ability to perform on-air communications to listeners.
•Availability during semesters and semester breaks.
