This position is for a research assistant in the area of computational linguistics, to work with Dr. Alexis Palmer in the UNT Department of Linguistics during Fall 2020. Specifically, this student will be assisting with tasks related to the FOLTA project.
The student in this role will be expected to perform literature review on recent cross-lingual learning methodologies in natural language processing, as well as making progress toward the research goals in the first part of the FOLTA project.
Required skills: solid background in computational Linguistics, solid Python programming skills, knowledge of neural and other approaches to machine learning, solid background in theoretical Linguistics, understanding of issues related to low-resource languages. In addition, candidate should have excellent communication skills, pay close attention to detail, be willing to work in a team, and be prepared to help guide less-experienced students collaborating on the project.
