College Work Study
**MUST HAVE RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED A COLLEGE WORK STUDY AWARD TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. You must have your Financial Aid Award Letter or a copy of your awards from your MyUNT account uploaded to your Handshake account profile.
DSI Tech Student Assistants’ duties include providing demonstrations on how to operate classroom equipment to users in addition to performing classroom system maintenance, repair, and installation.
The types of equipment supported by DSI Tech include computers, data projectors, audio amplifiers/mixers, wireless microphones, video conferencing cameras, and document cameras.
A working knowledge of audio/visual equipment is preferred but not required.
Qualities sought for this position are general intelligence, a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the discipline to apply acquired training in practical applications.
Student employees will be expected to transport equipment to various campus locations in all weather conditions.
Persons in this position will be expected to solve increasingly difficult technical problems, learn from these experiences and help document solutions as requested.
All student employees must be able to show evidence on a continuing basis that they are actively seeking a degree or certification.
DSI Tech is open for business from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Job Requirements – Student technicians must:
– Have at least a 2.0 GPA
– Have a current and valid Texas Driver’s License and a clean driving history.
– Have the stamina to work actively for up to eight (8) hours per day.
– Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and transport up to 150 pounds with the use of a dolly/handcart.
– Be able to walk long distances when required.
– Have strong visual and aural acuity.
– Have the ability to drive a ¾ ton van and to establish and maintain insurability under the University’s liability insurance policy.
– Have the ability to work safely on ladders and scaffolding.
– Be able to accurately read and interpret technical documentation.
– Be able to accurately and legibly fill out documentation.
Be able to learn readily and retain knowledge
**Due to the critical nature of this position, a conditional job offer is extended contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
