College Work Study
**MUST HAVE RECEIVED AND ACCEPTED A COLLEGE WORK STUDY AWARD TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. You must have your Financial Aid Award Letter or a copy of your awards from your MyUNT account uploaded to your Handshake account profile.
As a peer mentor, not only will you work with students, but you may also work with parents, counselors, teachers and/or school administrators. Making presentations is also a part of this job, and all peer mentors must be comfortable in doing so. You will be assigned specific schools within Denton County and will spend most of your time there.
We are looking for students that:
* have availability during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
* have made career and post-secondary decisions themselves.
* have your own reliable transportation. (Preferred)
(Position will involve driving to and from schools. Public Transportation, Uber, or Lyft Will Not be allowed.)
* have significant blocks of open times on your class schedule Monday thru Friday between 9am to 3pm.
* have an interest in helping others succeed.
* have a professional work ethic and positive attitude.
* have great customer service.
* are bilingual. (Fluency in verbal and written Spanish is preferred.)
* have work study. (Preferred)
Mentorship duties include:
* One to one mentoring
* Class presentations
* Tabling at college/career fairs
* Assembly presentations
* Online correspondence
* Various UNT orientation events
Accepting work study and non-work study student applicants.
