At UNT, every career fair and networking event is a chance to take a step forward no matter where you are in your journey. With more than 20 career fairs hosted annually, the Career Center creates countless opportunities for you to explore industries, meet employers, and strengthen your professional confidence. Each conversation, connection and question helps you gain clarity, build momentum, and discover new possibilities for your future.
Careers start here. In just one year, UNT hosted 25 career fairs, offered more than 1,400 workshops and presentations, and brought 900+ employers to campus to recruit and network with students.
Students and Alumni should contact their Career Coach or drop-in and see our Career Ambassadors for more information on Career Fairs.
Current UNT students and all UNT alumni are allowed to attend any Career Fair.
To learn how to view the employers that will be present at a Career Fair, check out this guide from Handshake.
Pre-registration allows students to view the employers and gives the Career Center an understanding of who is planning to attend. However, students do not have to pre-register to attend. Show up and we will check you in!
Researching the companies ahead of time, planning what you want to wear (at least business-casual is recommended). Have resumes ready to hand out to employers. Practice asking and answering questions and networking with employers. Have an elevator speech ready! Connect with your Career Coach via Navigate and/or the Career Ambassadors for drop-ins at the Career Center to help prepare.
Employers expect professional dress at the Business Career Fairs. Know that your wardrobe choices should enhance your credibility as a candidate and not distract the interviewers from focusing on your strengths and potential. Therefore, business attire is strongly recommended.
Students with special circumstances that would prevent dressing in business attire are advised to contact the Career Center prior to the Career Fair date for consultation on attire that is most appropriate.
Yes! Professional Clothing resources are available at the Diamond Eagle Clothing Closet and discounted through the JC Penney Suit Up event held each semester.
The Diamond Eagle Suit Up Closet under DSA is open via appointment. Before a Career Fair, it is highly recommended to make an appointment and plan ahead of time due to demand and availability. The items are free to rent but require dry-cleaning costs before returning.
Employers will list their hiring preferences through Handshake, so you can view the list of employers to see who is hiring (link to the guide). However, we recommend that international students become familiar with the CPT/OPT sponsorship process to help communicate this when networking with employers, by practicing how you are networking when speaking to employers to show that you have researched and/or know of opportunities. The UNT International Student and Scholar Services office often has a table at our largest events and is available for appointments to help students.
Yes, we recommend that you review your profile to update any personal information (student ID number, major, graduation date). Also add your most updated resume document to your Handshake profile (PDF file is recommended).
