Meet the College of Education Career Coaches

Amy Hicks is a Career Coach, and she supports Experienced UNT Alumni who graduated more than 1 year ago. Amy earned an MBA from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of General Studies in Criminal Justice and Health Studies from Texas Woman’s University. Amy likes helping students and alumni by exploring opportunities and identifying strengths and skills to create action steps for professional growth. She works with clients to create connection strategies and effective documents, and to fully utilize tools and resources. Amy also teaches Professional Development Strategies in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. When she is not at UNT, she enjoys being a mom to three fantastic children, exploring nature and the outdoors, and listening to all types of music. The best piece of advice she received was, “just be yourself” and ”spend the time on it if you love it – learn how to change, eliminate, or become more efficient with other things so that you can.” She has been described as inquisitive, encouraging, and energetic.

Marcus King is a Career Coach supporting students in the College of Education. Marcus earned an Ed.D. in Ethical Leadership from the University of St. Thomas (Texas), a M.S. in Sports Administration from Eastern New Mexico University and B.A. in Political Science from Northeastern State University. Marcus has a robust background in college basketball coaching having navigated the dynamic landscape of collegiate sports for over two decades. Recognizing the importance of self-awareness and resilience in career choice he utilizes holistic student development, expertise in mentorship, aptitude for performance enhancement to be a resource for students preparing for their professional journey.

Mat Levenson is a career coach supporting students in the College of Education.

Mat is a current student of Masters of Science (M.S) Interdisciplinary Studies of Kinesiology and Sports Psychology here at UNT (Go Mean Green!) Mat earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports Management and Mass Communications from Rogers State University while also a serving as a member of the Men’s Soccer Team. Before joining the Career Center Team, Mat served as a high school teacher and coach, teaching sciences and upper electives such as ACT/SAT Prep, Biology, Physical Science, Physiology, Sociology, P.E. and Sports Specific Training Courses, while also capturing a State Championship in boys soccer during his coaching tenure. 

When not at work, he loves to coach, watch, and play soccer as well as read, try new foods, travel, and spend quality time with his family. Mat is excited to join the career center team and looks forward to helping COE students discover their next steps in their journey to achieve their goals and dreams!

Hannah MacIntyre is a Career Coach supporting students in the College of Education. Hannah is a current Ph.D. Candidate in CAS/Anthropology at Washington State University where she also earned her M.A. in Anthropology. She earned her B.A. in History right here at UNT. (Go Mean Green!) Before joining the Career Center Team, Hannah served as a Public Anthropologist advancing government, Tribal, and community partnerships, research, and digital presence strategies. Hannah has experience teaching in a wide variety of educational settings; in addition to teaching college courses (Introduction to Anthropological Theory and Gender in Cross-cultural Perspectives), she taught high school (Government, Economics, US History, and World Geography) in the DFW Metroplex, and prior to that worked in public health outreach and education.

When not at work, she enjoys time with family, gardening, dancing, riding her bike, and checking out all that Denton has to offer. Hannah is excited to be back at UNT as a Career Coach; she values relationship building and report and is excited to help COE students discover their unique paths to greatness!
