The Internship Specialists in the UNT Career Center assist students with internships based on the Job Family or career path they plan to pursue. The specific Job Families, descriptions of each, assigned Internship Specialist, and UNT majors typically connected to the family, are provided below.

Arts and Design Job Family

  • Description: The Arts and Design pathway explores performance and/or production of various art forms as well as theory, history, and the impact of art on society. This field of study is a great fit for students who like to create art and for those who enjoy and value art.

Behavior and Culture Studies

  • Description: This pathway includes a broad introduction to a variety of fields for students who love learning about people, cultures, and relationships. Students are encouraged to explore human relationships, communities, and global connections while sharing their knowledge with others. This pathway is for students who are interested in the study and analysis of society, culture, and of the individual.

Education and Public Service

  • Description: This pathway is for students interested in teaching or local, state, and federal services. UNT offers majors, certificates, and licensure programs in a variety of educational and social services-related subject areas. Majors in this pathway open career opportunities in a variety of helping professions that include early childhood education, social work, emergency services, and more.

Health and Human Services

  • Description: The Health and Human Services pathway is designed to help students determine if an education in health care will help meet their career and personal goals and is consistent with one’s academic skills and talents. All health care professions involve direct contact, care, and communication with patients who may be healthy or ill. Students must have a strong aptitude and background in the biological, behavioral sciences and in mathematics. UNT offers undergraduate degrees that prepare students for medical school and licensure in the healthcare field.

Humanities and Communication

  • Description: The Humanities and Communication pathway includes a broad introduction to a variety of fields for students who are interested in learning critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills. Students learn about their own world perspective, consider varying ideas on this theme and the exchange of information. Majors in this pathway typically emphasize qualitative analysis and emphasize strong reading, writing, and communication comprehension.

Management, Industry, and Applied Technology

  • Description: This pathway is for students interested in business, management, marketing, merchandising and information technology. Students learn customer relations and partnership building while developing industry management knowledge and skills. Careers in this path are related to the business and information processing environments- from the hospitality industry to data analytics. This area is comprised primarily of the G. Brint Ryan College of Business-related majors; however, there are majors in numerous colleges that students can explore within this pathway.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

  • Description: Majors within this pathway can be applied or theoretical, and they will enhance one’s skills and competencies needed in our technology-dependent world. Students who are interested in courses related to (STEM) will set out to understand the physical world by using the scientific methods of observation, experimentation, and analysis. Students will deepen their knowledge of the natural world and gain hands-on experience with advanced scientific tools. Majors in this pathway often have a strong math and natural science foundation, and students must have an aptitude for the biological and behavioral sciences, and in mathematics.
