Maci Meriwether  (she, her, hers) – Internships Graduate Assistant.

I’m from the DFW area and completed my Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies from UNT. I am now working towards my Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. I am working in the Career Center as the Graduate Assistant – Internships. My current favorite TV show is New Girl and my favorite snack is ice cream. Personally, I think So Delicious has the best ice cream.

Describe a typical workday, tasks, and what you enjoy most about your job?

I am the lead on the Take Flight job shadowing program. Check out some of our previous sessions here. A typical day for me involves a lot of research on potential employer partners that may be interested in providing our students with job shadowing experience, either virtually or in person. I also work with the career coaches and the internship specialists to identify what types of careers our students are most interested in learning more about through Take Flight.

Describe the services you provide for UNT students.

Take Flight, which is a virtual and in-person job shadowing experience. I have helped to expand the list of employers that have hired our students as interns and are alumni with our Graduate Assistant – Employer. Also, I have started to support our CMHT students with resumes, cover letters, and interview skills as they are actively seeking internships.

Why do you believe students utilize the Career Center? What are the benefits?

Students use the Career Center for help with their resumes and to meet with internship specialists to talk about their internship opportunities. The Career Center is super beneficial for the students throughout their college career and for those getting ready to jump into the workplace!
