Take Flight Job Shadowing Program
Take Flight is UNT’s Job Shadowing Program. It’s designed to assist students in their career exploration and development by connecting them with professionals working in a career field of interest. In some cases, students visit a company and organization located primarily in the DFW area to network and learn about career opportunities. In other cases, the event is held virtually. This program is a stepping-stone for students to gain deeper insight into a career field. It can also help students build connections to aid with their future career goals such as internships and full-time employment following graduation.
Upcoming job shadowing opportunities can be found under Events-Job Shadowing and in Handshake under Events. Recordings of previous virtual job shadowing opportunities are available as Take Flight videos.
Students who participate in Take Flight will be able to:
- Determine how this experience fits in with their career development plan.
- Clarify their career goals and assess if this is a career they wish to pursue.
- Develop a better understanding of all aspects involved in a job. Students can observe not only job characteristics and responsibilities, but also what each profession requires on a day-to-day basis.
Job shadowing is an awesome way to learn what “a day in the life” of a professional looks like. Take Flight programs are offered during the Fall Semester, Winter Break and Spring Break. Students can learn more about this program by scheduling an appointment with a Career Coach through Navigate.
