The UNT Career Center provides a full range of services to support students and alumni at all points along the employment path, from their freshman year to post-graduation. Career Coaches (on the right below) are assigned to specific populations and are available for one-on-one career advisement. They can help you Discover Your Path, Explore Majors and Careers, Gain Experience, and Achieve Your Goals.
The Career Center offers career planning workshops, job shadowing opportunities, resume writing assistance, mock interviews, and help with job search strategies. Special events such as career fairs and industry receptions provide the opportunity to interact with employers and network with professionals. Handshake, UNT’s online job posting system, provides access to part-time and full-time employment opportunities.

If you’re in the process of choosing a major or want to confirm you’re in the right major, it’s important to understand the relationship between the many majors available at UNT and the vast career opportunities that exist. In addition, you can gain valuable knowledge and experience in a potential career field by participating in job shadowing programs, completing an internship and connecting with career professionals.
Employers value students with real-world work experience, and research shows that students who complete an internship or other type of experience receive a greater number of job offers and a higher starting salary when they graduate. Multiple opportunities exist for gaining real-world experience and adding valuable skills to your resume while completing your degree.
In order to launch a successful job search and achieve your goals, there are several steps you must take in advance. The resources and tools presented here will help you create a strong resume, prepare to interview, and develop a strategy to connect with employers. In addition, be sure to meet with your Career Coach for major-specific advice. Your Career Coach can review your resume and provide suggestions, help you develop effective responses to common interview questions, and assist you with personalizing your networking and job search strategy.
A panel of public service employers, including the secret service, local police departments, non-profit organizations and a private company, discuss employment opportunities within their organization, the applicant selection process, what applicants can do to stand out and more.
